Coastal Bend Prescription Glasses

If you use bifocals in order to see clearly each day, it is likely you are familiar with the dreaded sensation of “image-jump”—the disjunction between your close-up and distance vision becoming all to clear thanks to your so clearly divided bifocal lenses. If you are tired of these vision interruptions and are looking for an alternative, look no further. At our Coastal Bend optical store, Rockport Eye Associates, we are happy to offer our clients a solution to the “image-jump” problem by introducing them to the amazing progressive lenses we have available today.

Progressive lenses are a step up from bifocals in that your vision with progressive lenses is noticeably smoother. There is no longer any visible line between your distance and close-up vision, and no more jolt from image-jump. Instead of keeping the areas of vision separate in two distinct sections of the lenses, progressive lenses are designed to create a more seamless vision experience. It does not necessarily make your vision better in a technical sense, but it makes it more comfortable, and seem more natural than with bifocal lenses. Patients who have switched to progressive lenses sometimes need a short adjustment period in order to become fully comfortable with their new lenses, but after that are blown away at how progressive lenses have improved their quality of vision each day.

If you are interested in learning more about progressive lenses or any of the many other services available to you at our Coastal Bend optical store, we encourage you to visit the main Rockport Eye Associates website and look through some of the additional information we have provided for our current and prospective clients. If you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like to schedule an appointment with one of our eye care experts, do not hesitate to contact us for assistance. Optometrist Coastal Bend

Rockport Eye Associates is your go-to Coastal Bend optometrist for the treatment of astigmatism. The American Optometric Association (AOA) defines an astigmatism as a vision condition that causes blurred vision due either to the irregular shape of the cornea, the clear front cover of the eye, or sometimes the curvature of the lens inside the eye. This vision blurriness will seem as if you are looking at a picture that is out of focus. Astigmatism is a common condition that most people have to some degree or another. The more severe the astigmatism the more treatment is needed, treatment being a simple corrective eyeglass or contact lens. The cause of astigmatism is unclear, hereditary seems to play a factor and worsens with age.

As your go-to Coastal Bend optometrist, Rockport Eye Associates will test for astigmatism when you come in for a comprehensive eye exam. If Dr. Soto determines that you have an astigmatism and that treatment is required, she will go over possible treatment options with you. Depending on the severity of your astigmatism, one of the following treatments are available: corrective eyeglasses, corrective contact lenses, laser surgery, or a corneal modification procedure known as, orthokeratology (or Ortho-K).

Astigmatism is due to the irregular shape of the cornea or the lens inside the eye. The cornea is the part of the eye that is responsible for allowing us to see things clearly. This happens when the cornea properly focuses on light that enters the eye. With an astigmatism this process is disrupted by an abnormal curvature of the cornea. When the curve of the eye is off then the eye is unable to properly focus the light that is entering the eye, as a result, objects appear out of focus.

If you or someone you love are experiencing any of the blurred vision associated with astigmatism, you should make an appointment with your local Coastal Bend optometrist as soon as possible. We will give you a comprehensive eye exam and determine what is causing your blurred vision. After the eye exam a proper course of action can be taken to best treat your vision problem. At Rockport Eye Associates it is our mission to make sure that your vision is healthy and strong long into the future.
